Our first annual fundraising event, Sounding Off For A Cure, was held on May 18, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Over 300 guests attended and helped raise over $250,000 to fund VABC's inaugural grant to The Brain Tumor Center.
Our generous sponsors were Tiglio Italian Menswear, Silver Silk, Reilly Olmes, Raffi Linea Iomo/Fiji, Gimo’s Italiana S.P.A., Dream World International, Inc., Al Beres Design Studio, Adolfo-Concorde-Bensol, Ben Sherman, Beth Frank Industries, and Bugatchi Uomo. Live music was provided by The Bomb Squad.
Guests enjoyed fine cuisine prepared by Borekas, City Sweets, Indiana, La Parma & Riva Grill, Public, Sullivan Street Bakery, Victor’s Café, and Zo’Calo. Spirits included Bombay Sapphire, Brooklyn Brewery, Corazon Tequila, Dewar’s, Reyka Vodka, Reyka Water, and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.
There was an exciting silent auction, which featured a Judith Leiber hangbag, a Girard-Perregaux watch, Burberry and Prada sunglasses, signed sports memorabilia, beauty & spa packages, and resort stays at Hunter Mountain and Singer Island, Florida.
